Nils Thorsson (1898-1975) was one of Denmark’s most influential ceramicists, and designed for Royal Copenhagen for over 60 years, becoming Artistic Director in 1949. He created thousands of pieces that ranged from functional tableware to decorative art objects, receiving numerous honours and awards for his contribution to Danish design. such as the Eckersberg Medal, the Lunning Prize and the Prince Eugen Medal. Thorsson’s pieces remain universally appealing to collectors and enthusiasts who love quality design with personality.

Thorsson’s form and pattern designs from the 1950s – 1970’s, especially from the BACA range, continue to be coveted as some of Royal Copenhagen’s most popular works and are positioned as prime examples of mid-century and Danish modernism.

This outstanding piece is in excellent vintage condition, with light signs of wear consistent with age and use.
