Charles Lotton Iridescent Blue Leaf and Vine Vase, c1991

$600.00

Charles Lotton began his glassblowing career in 1970 when he constructed a furnace in his backyard. He went on to become a world-renowned artist, and his work is held in prestigious collections and major museums. Lotton continued to develop his practice and experimented with ways to create colour and visual effects through the glass to create beautiful, one-of-a-kind works of glass art, including vases, bowls, sculptural forms, pendant lights and chandeliers.

Lotton's chemical process involved elements of the earth like sand, soda ash, lime, borax, zinc and metals, to produce breathtaking colours and optical effects.

This vase features his 'leaf and vine' design in a stunning iridescent blue and gold colour combination. Because of Lotton's unique chemical process, the vase throws pink and purple depending on the light. The vase is perfectly proportioned with a spherical body and flared lip. The vase is signed and dated on the base.

Please note dimensions carefully as it is often difficult to represent sizes accurately in photographs. The size and weight of this item are reflected in shipping costs.
